Lubbock Community Fridge

Feeding Hope: Join the ELAH Fridge Initiative

We are committed to addressing food insecurity through its community fridge program, which has been a valuable resource for the local community for the past three years. Situated in a designated food desert, the fridge facilitates access to nutritious food for those who might otherwise face difficulties obtaining it. It also offers a practical way for residents to contribute to reducing food waste by donating perishable items. The fridge is maintained daily and relies on donations for cleaning supplies and upkeep. This initiative not only feeds the needy but also strengthens community bonds and promotes environmental responsibility.

Art Kits for Kids

Unlock Creativity: ELAH’s Free Art Kits for Kids

We passionately supports the cultural and artistic growth of Lubbock’s eastern community by empowering emerging and marginalized artists. As part of our commitment to nurturing creativity and healing, ELAH offers the “Art Kits for Kids” program, which has distributed as many as 240 free art kits in a given year. These kits are designed to spark creativity in young minds and provide them with the tools needed to express themselves artistically. Through initiatives like this, ELAH not only fosters artistic talent but also strengthens community bonds by making art accessible to all, helping to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy and empowerment of creative expression.

Free People’s Library

Explore New Worlds: Discover ELAH’s Free People’s Library

We actively promotes local literacy through a variety of enriching initiatives. Aside from our primary focus on art, ELAH has established a free library, hosts book giveaways, and runs a community-driven book club. This club began with a grant and has continued due to strong community support and generous donations that often include multiple copies of the same book. Meeting bi-monthly, the club provides a relaxed environment where members can fully engage with each book, facilitated by the provision of free copies to all attendees. We have chosen to offer a free library rather than selling books, ensuring that everyone in the community has the opportunity to access these resources. The library prioritizes works by Black, Indigenous, and authors of color, focusing on young adult literature and books related to the arts.
